Plane Seat Reviews

United – A319 – Seat 9D

Airline: United
Aircraft: A319
Seat: 9D
Class: Economy Plus

Notes: If you find yourself on United and you’re a little taller, You may be impressed with their Economy Plus seating. If you’re not familiar, these are coach seats in the front half of the economy cabin that give you 4 inches of additional legroom. It’s a nice perk if you normally find your knees embedded deep within the fabric of the seat in front of you, but adds little or no extra value if you’re of average height or shorter. For the money I’d like to see something like a 2-3 configuration and more arm-space. (I’ll keep that in my dreams with the idea of first class NYC subway cars).

Summary: If you’re tall or just have to be near the front, it’ll be worth the extra few bucks if you’re given the option. Otherwise, move to the back.

Rating:2.5 hops (of 5).

How I got it: United Premier status. United also offers a $14 one-time purchase or a $349 annual option allowing you unlimited “upgrades” to Economy Plus. (Prices as of 3/27/2009).
