Summary:

If it’s not an upgrade, we won’t officially index it here on modhop so this good but standard Comfort room at Van der Valk Airporthotel Düsseldorf finds a home at our YouTube Channel.

The Room: Your inner gymnast will love that there’s room for a floor routine in this room. The space, big panoramic window, modern appointments and comfortable bed combine to make us want to stay here next time even though there are other options MUCH closer to the airport. The bed(s) is (are) comfortable but maybe not as plush as what you’d find in a true luxury hotel and may be a little lower to the ground than you’re used to. It’s distance to the airport also gets you a little more quiet than something right next door.

Your workspace is good with a long counter-style desk giving you plenty of room to spread out notes, plug in gadgets. If you’ve worked enough on the flight then just fire up the large wall mounted TV and flip through a large handful of TV channels in number of languages. We know you can’t get enough CNN International.

Washroom: The washroom is much nicer than you might be used to in a standard room. Uber-modern appliances, separate tub and rainfall shower and reasonable counterspace make your post-flight teardown easy.

Amenities: These are Valk branded amenities and are hopefully not their pride and joy. Oily hand lotions, shampoo and conditioner leave you with waxy hair and I’m sure someone is watering the body wash down.

Service: The front desk agent went over every conceivable option for what I might be able to do on my visit, all inside the hotel (There’s nothing much to do nearby, I guess). On our visit we found the staff to be friendly and helpful from the lobby to the bar.

Wi-fi/Connectivity: Wi-fi is complimentary throughout the hotel. Power ports in the rooms are typical for Germany but adaptors can be borrowed from the front desk.

Overall: Both Maratim and Sheraton have locations at or near the airport but a bigger, more comfortable standard “Comfort Room” can be had here at Van der Valk Airporthotel Dusseldorf. Friendly service, great rooms and complimentary perks like wi-fi make up for the hotels off-off-airport location.
