Singapore Changi Connector Train
My last platinum challenged kept me at Singapore’s Changi Airport, airside, for just 6 hours before heading home via Tokyo and Detroit.
About a year ago, I embarked on a quick but long journey to arrive at Platinum status with Delta. In one swoop, I managed to get all the miles I needed within a near-ridiculous itinerary that brought me to Singapore from New York and back within a few days.

I never left the secure side of Changi Airport.

Another year, another challenge. This time I’m in it with United (Listen as we preview my trek on the podcast). The airline’s Newark hub is closer to my home and there’s more direct service to the places I go frequently. This time I’m breaking it up into a couple of little parts and one big one. Just a few weeks ago I hopped up to Burlington, VT to check out the leaves and a giant bottle of maple syrup and in December I’ll head home to Minneapolis for Christmas. Needing 18,000 miles in 90 days will take something more, though.

As I type, I’m wedged into a bulkhead aisle … on a trek to Hong Kong where I’ll get to spend a good 15 hours sleepily taking in what I can of the Kowloon side (specifically Tsim Sha Tsui) of Victoria Harbor. When I’m done I’ll just need the Minneapolis segment to get me over the top, ending with 18,074 Mileage Plus miles. Follow along here and scroll further to see the challenge I did with Delta last year…
