It’s been since pre-pandemic days that we’ve mentioned Hawaii and even longer since we talked about flight options to or from the island state. But whether you’re fully remote or on-site at work, it might be time for a break from the grind and get out there on a well-earned vacation. What are among the top destinations that you daydream about? For us, Oahu is in the top 10 right now. The Hawaiian Islands are an amazing grouping of culture, tranquility, and beauty. And, there’s always so much to do and experience that you will want to come back again and again.
Experience The Ocean
It should go without saying, but no trip to Oahu is complete until you and your crew take a dip into the ocean. Be adventurous and try scuba diving and snorkeling in Oahu. There are many famous and below-the-radar locations to experience. Whether you’re a novice or an accomplished diver, you will find a location suited to your skillset. Renting your equipment is easy, too, so that you won’t need to worry about packing your gear and keeping track of it when you are off to your next pursuit.
Remember, the sun can be pretty intense when you’re out there. During your time in the water and on the beach, make sure you have proper sunblock to protect your skin from the sun’s glorious rays. Hawaii does have restrictions on certain sunscreen chemicals in an effort to further conservation efforts in the Pacific Ocean.
Learn About The Culture
The Hawaiian Islands are a melting pot of culture and tradition. Plan for your itinerary to include a stop at the Bishop Museum, which has been named the Hawaii State Museum of Natural and Cultural History. In this fun and informative museum, you will find a broad range of exhibits and programs. There is something for everyone, young and old. Check out the visiting exhibits, unique galleries, and the informative planetarium.
Another must-see on your cultural excursion is the Polynesian Cultural Center located on Oahu’s famous North Shore. Spend an entire day here. Immerse yourself in the rich history and tradition of Hawaii and the surrounding areas. You will come away amazed at all you have learned in one day. As an added bonus, the Cultural Center is very family-friendly and welcoming.
To get you in the mood for your upcoming trip, enjoy the beautiful music of Hawaii while learning to hula with this beginner video.
Get A Bird’s Eye View
The Pali Lookout is located on the Ko’olau mountain at the head of the Nu’uanu Valley. With an elevation of 1200 feet, you will be in awe of the stunning view. Bring a jacket as the winds can be very strong. The visual expanse will give you views of Kaneohe Bay and Kailua. If you decide to go, take the opportunity to learn about the cultural and historical significance of this location where a significant battle in Hawaii’s history took place.
Get even higher in the sky with a helicopter tour of Oahu. You will have a chance to see the island in a different way. The colors of the land and ocean will amaze you. Bring your sunglasses and your camera (or phone) to document all you see.
After your wonderful adventure on Oahu, you will want to plan your next trip right back to Hawaii. Stop on Oahu for a day or two and then explore all of the beauty and adventure that the other islands have to offer. Pack well and have fun. Aloha!
