I’ve always thought a variety of seating options should be arranged in nicely separated areas to make a great lounge. At this Air Canada Maple Leaf Frankfurt Airport Lounge you get that. Typical lounge chairs line the windows, nicely separated from other parts of the lounge allowing for quiet, melancholy stares out onto a rainy apron. Work-bar style seating may not be as comfortable but comes with an excessive number of power outlets and is/are situated close to the buffet.
For quiet time, there’s a “cell-free” zone that discourages chatty Canadians from using their phone. If you REALLY can’t be bothered there are semi-private cabanas that are first come – first serve. Cabanas come with their own TV’s and daybed.

If you’ve got business class perks via Star Alliance, you’ll eat well inside the Air Canada Maple Leaf lounge. Catering here is better here than in any Frankfurt airport lounge we’ve tried at this level. Our breakfast-time layout offered up a full Euro meat & cheese spread alongside yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries and some hot options.
Also impressive is the selection of drinks here. Booze is name brand stuff (Tanqueray, Captain Morgan) and self-serve so watch the kids. Automated machines make the coffee but my cappuccino wasn’t half bad.
Wi-fi worked well inside the lounge so I wasn’t stuck wondering what my fantasy hockey team was up to. Short videos streamed flawlessly (yes, our own) and using basic social network functions using twitter, snapchat and instagram were snappy.
Power outlets were found near most sections of seating and was plentiful at work-bars so my phone remained charged and work got done.
This seems to be a stealthy operation. Check-in was quick and welcoming and staff inside seemed sneakily efficient. The lounge remained clean and food was stocked the whole time I was there (about 45 minutes). The lounge wasn’t unreasonably busy at the time but this was still an impressive mix of friendly and upkeep.

I had just spent the night at the adjacent Sheraton Frankfurt Airport hotel, gearing up for a ride back to New York in first class aboard a Singapore Airlines A380. Had I not just washed-up in my room, I might have tried the showers…which I hear are nice.
My first class seat aboard partner Singapore Airlines got me into this Air Canada Frankfurt Airport lounge. The more obvious way in would be a business class ticket aboard an Air Canada flight but as in this case any same-day first or business class ticket on a Star Alliance flight will get you in. You’ll also have access as a Star Alliance Gold member.
Want even better access to this Frankfurt Airport lounge? Maple Leaf Lounge memberships can be purchased at 3 levels: Canada, North America and Worldwide. This lounge would require the Worldwide membership that at time of this post carries an annual cost of $665 Canadian.

Have you been to the Lufthansa first class lounge at Frankfurt? I hear it is absolutely amazing, with a full sit down restaurant, high brands of drinks, and a buffet like no other.

Not yet, but I look forward to it. There are individual First Class Lounges AND a dedicated First Class terminal at Frankfurt. Boarding Area pal Lucky from One Mile at a Time gives a peek inside: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2014/01/17/lufthansa-first-class-terminal-access/
