Before they got new cabins, Delta 767 were among our least favorite planes to fly (particularly in economy). Even in an economy comfort seat it was a less than comfortable way to fly. But with refreshed cabins sitting in an Economy Comfort seat feels a lot better.

Hmmm. I flew a trusty DL 767-300ER (overwing exit type) MSP-AMS in mid-2012, and I liked the old EC product. True, there was the common IFE on the bulkhead then, but on the eastbound, we just wanted to sleep. I felt that the seats were better than the new ones, a tad wider and better padding, and there seemed to be about 1″ more pitch than what I’ve experienced on DL’s A330 service to/from AMS. (DL did have some planes with 35″ EC pitch, but I think that’s gone in the slimline era).
I more recently flew in a domestic 767-300 SEA-MSP in E.C. and it seemed like it was at best a 33″ pitch, no matter what DL claims. I jumped back one row to a standard Y seat, as my EC seat was in D next to an ample man, and got the AB pair to myself, which was better than 3+ hours of armrest wars, 2-3 more inches of pitch ain’t worth it!

Have to agree that armrest war isn’t worth buying up to if you’re only getting a couple of inches more legroom.

As a guy who’s 6’7″, I’d have to disagree. The tiniest bit of extra seat pitch makes a world of difference. I was once on a TPA-DTW flight in aisle seat 36E on a DL MD-90. I sat sideways with my legs in the aisle for takeoff and landing and stood for the rest of the flight.
I always get Economy Comfort on Delta, but it’s weird how some planes have more legroom than others, yet Delta says they have the same. A few months ago I did a 2-leg trip. On the first flight (an MD-90), the Economy Comfort seat gave me LOADS of room. But on the second flight (a 757-200 X configuration), my knees were pressing hard into the seat in front of me. Both are listed on Delta’s website as 34 in/86 cm, so either I grew a lot during a 2-hour layover, or somebody’s lying.
Anyway, I’d take armrest wars and less seat width over half an inch less legroom any day.
