Seat(s): Put up against similar cabins of many Asia-Pacific, Middle-East and even some European carriers, it’s certainly not the most spacious first class suite. Width and pitch (legroom) really aren’t bad here but might compare better to a more luxurious business class.
Hip and leg space aside, there are a few little quirks we aren’t all that fond of. Your side console really separates you from the window and is an (albeit small) lean forward to reach. As much as we love the cool electronic window shade, we’d prefer to stare outside now and then.
Flat-bed mode is comfortable and the nice linens that come with turn-down service make sleeping easy. The seats width comes into play here though if you like to toss and turn while you’re out.
Each seat comes with an instruction guide for the bells and whistles-challenged.

Tech/Connectivity/Entertainment: Your personal 15″ screen is again, quite business-y. On it, there’s a just-decent choice of recent movies and TV programs from the US and Britain. If you brought your own entertainment, a single power port will keep your device fired up for the ride.
British Airways is a bit behind with in-flight wi-fi. We know they’ve trialed wi-fi aboard (get this…) ONE airplane but it hadn’t resulted in a widespread offering by the time we flew.
Food: As you’d expect, you’re offered a multi-course meal with high-end touches. After a quick bite at the JFK Concorde Room and feeling the need for sleep, we skipped the dinner entrée but enjoyed everything from amuse bouche through salad rounds and all of our pre-arrival breakfast. Everything was well prepared and nice to look at.

Service: 75% of the flight attendants were very pleasant. It’s just the one guy who stopped by early on to offer pajamas. He seemed really unhappy that we said “yes”, as if the cost of each set came directly from his paycheck. Otherwise, everything was outstanding on our flight with quick and friendly crew helping with everything from meals to turn-down service.
Rating: 3 hops (of 5).
Route Flown for this review: New York (JFK) – London Heathrow (LHR)
How we got em’: This was a big sliver of a OneWorld award itinerary using US Airways Dividend Miles. The gang at PointsPros found a great all-first class trip using a handful of miles to North Asia (via Europe).

I don’t know how I could justify first-class for such a short flight from JFK-LHR, especially if you opted for a daytime flight. At worse, it’s 7 hours. If you eat anything — either dinner or breakfast — you’re down to maybe 5 hours of good sleep, at the most. If I was going to blow miles for first-class or spend the money, I’d fly from somewhere further out west in the U.S., where the flight to London is long enough to fully enough it.

Completely agree. As part of a larger trip it can make sense but on your own dime (or points) it’s value becomes murky at best.
