The Room:
Excellent. It’s hard to knock any room that’s brand new, but put me in a brand new room at a “suites” only hotel and it seems like the deal of the century. We got what I think was an introductory rate of $135 (USD) a night for their “standard” room, which was anything but standard. Among the amenities, you’ll find an “almost” full-fledged kitchen with stainless steel appliances, good sized living area with gas fireplace and large flat-panel TV that leads to sliding doors entering a small but reasonable bedroom with a big comfortable bed. The bathroom tops it off with both a glassed-in shower, new fixtures and a large jacuzzi tub. Check out their virtual tours: Living/Bed/Kitchen | Bathroom

Service: Above average. Front desk was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They arranged more than one trip to our room to deliver complimentary toiletries that we had forgotten and were helpful with directions around town. Housekeeping might have been a little anxious to clean our room, so the do-not-disturb sign is recommended. Bar and breakfast staff were polite and helpful as well.

Perks:The breakfast service at Embassy Suites is spectacular when compared to it’s suite-less rivals with a full cooked-to-order omlette chef and generous buffet. There’s also a complimentary cocktail reception every evening with drinks and snacks around 5pm.

Location: I don’t think you can get more central than this. Situated at the top of Old Montreal and right accross from the Convention Center just blocks from lively rue St. Catherine you’re steps away from shopping, history, restaurants, museums galore, just name it. There’s also a subway stop within a block so accessing other parts of the city is a snap too.

Lobby: The lobby is open and airy, but perhaps a little cold and corporate. It gets points only because it still had that “new lobby smell”.

Parking: If you have a car you can either leave it with the valet or save a few loonies (Canadian Dollars) and park in the Convention Center garage directly accrosss the street.

Overall: Centrally located with good sized rooms and many of the comforts you’ll find at home(and maybe more), The Embassy Suites Montreal is an excellent choice for all types. Great room sizes for families, romantic enough for couples and in the middle of everything great about Montreal. Highly recommended.Rating: 4.5 Hops (out of 5)
