Believe it or not, you can make a career out of travel. It isn’t the easiest thing to do and takes time to master. But from finding things to sell to even blogging about your travels, there are a few things you can do to make a genuine income. So, here are some handy suggestions.
One of the more interesting ways to make money when traveling is to put your skills to use. There are shortages of many skilled workers all over the world, and none more so than in the medical field. Doctors are in demand all over, even in the US and UK, so you can make money helping out where you can. As a registered nurse, you can attend high-paying travel nurse jobs across the United States and other countries where you will be well-compensated.
Like a real-life Indiana Jones, you can travel the world for valuable resources. However, unlike Dr. Jones, you will be doing it to sell what you find. No one is suggesting you do anything illegal or steal cultural items. But there are genuine jobs for skilled hikers, climbers, and adventurers to source valuable precious stones and metals. You can sell these on the markets as you need to, or even try your hand at making something from them, such as hand-made jewelry.
Anyone can take out their phone and get a shot of something. But it takes a skilled photographer to capture the light, beauty, and feel of a specific moment in time. Most photographers start as hobbyists. But it can turn into a passion. If you have a knack for photography, you can make between $10,000 and $100,000 per year doing what you love. And the more you are willing to travel, the more you can make. For example, a shot from a summit will make good money.
Traveling is expensive, and you need to pay for it somehow. Making money while traveling can be hard. But there’s no law against blogging about your adventures when you get back. Travel blogs are popular these days, so you need an angle for your niche. But the more unique and interesting it is, the more traffic you could get. You could even monetize it with travel gear affiliations, selling your photos and vlogging on sites like YouTube.
You’re not really a foodie if you stick to one cuisine, and the world’s best chefs are always expanding their knowledge by learning from others. Traveling is one of the best ways to sample new cuisines, and if you are a chef, this is like learning a new language. And, like languages, you could be paid more for simply knowing it. For example, sashimi chefs are in huge demand as customers grow to love Japanese food and sushi in particular. So, get exploring.
Moving around to help people and put your skills to use is a great way to make a career out of travel. Photography is also a genuine way to make money, and even learning how to create new and in-demand dishes by learning about exotic cuisines can be a great way to boost your skills.
