Notes: This was a night time visit but I didn’t get the impression that this space is ever very bright. So, if you’re here to lap up copious amounts of sunshine before you shuttle off, you’ll be better off outside…maybe. If broody, dim spaces are your thing then the Luxx Lounge at Frankfurt Int’l. will suit you just fine.

Seating is well arranged in separate areas. Cloth loungers and armchars are arranged in a small room once you walk in, but there’s more abundant seating as you move further back near the kitchen. There, you’ll find deep leather lounge chairs and other assorted seating in a slightly more open area. Decor in all rooms could use a refresh, but furniture seemed well maintained and the lounge is clean.

Food: This was a late day visit so we were met with just a light snack selection. Typical nuts and snack mixes were served alongside what appeared to be foot-long hot dogs. The bottled selection is good but if you’re into the hard stuff you might be disappointed with the lower shelf liquor.

Wi-Fi:  Be sure to get the wifi code when you check in. Once you’re past the online sign-in process, the connection should be pretty reliable.

Service:  We were clearly a nuisance to the night time check-in person as we appear to have interrupted a very entertaining personal phone call. He was much nicer when he realized that we were relatively low maintenance and that he could quickly get back to yapping.

The weiner humidor. Soooo steamy. Luxx Lounge at FRA.

Summary: Landside lounges pose a  problem in calculating your time to the gate. If you get more cooperative front-desk attendant, they might help in making sure you start to the gate in time. Give yourself enough time and you’ll find that the Luxx Lounge at Frankfurt International is a dated but comfortable club with enough in the way of food and amenities to charge up before a short haul flight.

How to get in: The € 799 (*$1038)  annual fee seems is absolutely ridiculous for what you get here unless we’re missing something (Complimentary Moet & Chandon sponge bath per-visit?). Admission is complimentary if flying a partner airline in international business class. For a current list of partners click HERE. Single visit passes can be purchased on entry for € 30 (*$38.99) and members of Priority Pass are admitted.

Hops: 2 (of 5).
