Seat(s): European Business Class has always made total sense to me. Keep the economy style seat next to each passenger open and provide elevated service and meals. Then sell as much business class as that route will handle and open up more in the back for economy travellers. But in LOT Polish Business Class aboard this 737-400 even that empty seat next to us doesnt make this feel like much of an upgrade.
Seat width is usually the bigger deal for us so the elbow room is appreciated but knee space is awful. Seat pitch can’t be better than 31″ (at time of posting SeatGuru.com says 37″…that’s wrong) so no upgrade there. Luckily there was no one in front of us to toss their seatback into reverse.

Tech/Connectivity/Entertainment: Unless you consider the chunky, old-world overhead ligthting panel “technology” then this antique of an airplane has little to offer.
Food: Food looks better in Business Class than what’s served in economy (if anything) but it’s nothing we recognized, or enjoyed.
Service: The crew was actually a bright spot on our flight. Nothing exceptional happened but there was a level of competence and personalized service fitting of a short haul business class flight.

How we got em’: This was a large sliver of a Star Alliance award itinerary using US Airways Dividend Miles. The gang at PointsPros found a great all-business class trip using just a handful of miles to Asia (via Europe). Note: US Airways is no longer in the Star Alliance but as part of it’s merger with American Airlines is now a part of OneWorld.
