[Jake] I’ve been to and through Manchester a number of times but was able to save my nickels by staying with good friends. A busy stop for both leisure and business travelers (and of course, Man-U fans), Manchester Airport isn’t short on nearby hotels but Samantha Priestly makes a case for why Bewleys:
Bewleys Hotel Manchester Airport, England, is obviously purpose built to serve the needs of travellers stopping off for the night before and after taking their flights. It is sold as the closest hotel to the airport and really can’t be beaten for its convenience. Guests wishing to park and fly from here can leave their vehicles in the hotel car park overnight and then take the five minute drive to the airport parking, which the hotel provides, where frequent shuttle buses will take you to the terminal doors.
But, airports aside, this luxurious 4 star hotel really is worth the stay on merit alone.
The rooms in Bewleys are beautifully decorated and furnished. All rooms have spotless bathrooms, flat screen TVs, tea and coffee making facilities and extremely comfortable beds, with family rooms featuring two of these extra comfortable double beds.
The reception, as well as all guest areas you pass through, is really quite stunning, modern, clean and very relaxing. All areas feature comfortable sofas and are decorated minimally in chocolate and cream tones with various artworks adorning the walls here and there. As you pass through to the bar and restaurant the wide open spaces and calm ambience really serves to put guests and travellers completely at ease.
The bar area features booths and plenty of tables and chairs for relaxing and enjoying a drink. You can order snacks here as well, but if you prefer a sit down meal in the waiter service restaurant you would be advised to book a table in advance. The up market restaurant does get very busy and is usually fully booked, causing disappointment if you turn up wanting a table on the night. The bar area will serve you a selection of snacks, kids meals and small dishes like curries, but they don’t really compare with the food on offer in the restaurant.
While it is quite true that the vast majority of visitors to this hotel will be doing so as a quick stop off amid other travel plans, it really is a shame to pass through Bewleys without properly appreciating all it has to offer. The rooms, restaurant and complete atmosphere in this hotel will serve to put any traveler at ease, and should be enjoyed.
