Lounge:Plaza Premium Lounge Where: Hong Kong (HKG) East Wing
Cafe to Cozy.
Plaza Network Lounges wow us again with a decent variety of seating inside this Hong Kong Plaza Premium Lounge. Get past the bar and immediate cafe seating to get to some deeper lounge chairs in a larger, dark room. We did’t quite make it that far. Ours were cushioned chairs around a small table in the bar suitable for snacking comfortably.
Get noodled or just snack.
Early day food options had dry cereal out alongside snacks and fruit. There’s a hot food bar that may or may not have the noodle-y goodness as what you’ll find inside a nearby Cathay Pacific Lounge but there’s more than just noodles here. The folks at Plaza Premium invite you to “…Hong Kong-style fish ball noodles with homemade XO sauce” but at breakfast, enjoy “Hong Kong-style flour roll with peanut and sweet sauce”.
Drink time looks fun here too. Along with the all-day selection of beer and spirits, there’s a daily selection of tapas at the bar each evening.
Wi-fi was plenty speedy and we found enough power outlets in good spots to give this Hong Kong Plaza Premium Lounge a power hungry tech-y thumbs up.
Smiles and speed.
We’ve walked by this Hong Kong Plaza Premium Lounge a number of times in the past and seen a line so we understand why front desk staff are so efficient. It seems the Plaza Network Group goes the distance in training for service though as check-in is handled with the pleasantries you’d expect as a priority flyer.
Can you clean up?
Yes, you can grab a pre-flight shower here. We didn’t get to experience the showers this time so it won’t be calculated in the rating of this Plaza Network lounge. We’re hoping the washrooms aren’t an indication of how well the rooms are maintained. On our visit, both mens and women’s room were in need of a wipe-down. Maybe that’s why the door was propped open?

Summary: The fact that we’ve seen lines outside on numerous occasions may point to more crowded times inside this Plaza Network Lounge. When not extra-busy this is a nice spot to relax if the dim lighting doesn’t lull you into a deep sleep. The helpful, efficient staff and decent morning food selection lends to us concluding that at least this, the East hall version Plaza Premium Lounge at Hong Kong (HKG) is a worthwhile stop.
Rating: 7.8 of 10
