#mileburn2015 isn’t nearly as mileburn-ing as in previous years but we’ll still get good sampling of airlines thanks to some crafty (and perhaps unwise) use of points/miles. We’re using what results of a Delta Skymiles Business Amex signup bonus to get to Amsterdam on Delta in their Delta One (Business) cabin and in euro-biz aboard a KLM 737-800. On the way back we take advantage of a fifth freedom route and hop aboard a Garuda Indonesia 777-300 in business class for 40 minutes of luxury to London before sampling Virgin Atlantic’s Premium Economy aboard their shiny new 787-900.
4 days, 4 flights, 4 airlines.
Delta’s not typically one to make fancy videos with floating words for service aboard just one specific aircraft so here they outline all their classes of service. Delta One starts at roughly :55 into the video.
KLM took to social experimentation for their showing of Europe Business Class (since the seats themselves are the same as in economy). Up front aboard intra-Europe flights you typically get a little extra legroom and a guaranteed empty seat next to you. Because you want it that way…
It might be our shortest ever aboard something as large as a 777-300ER but thanks to Garuda Indonesia’s fifth freedom hop from Amsterdam to London Gatwick, we’ll be sampling their Business Class cabin…quickly. Garuda’s video covers all cabins, Business (Executive) seating begins 2 minutes in.
We figured Virgin Atlantic would have a slick video with floaty words for their Premium Economy service and we were right. Even better, the example aircraft is the one we’ll be flying, the 787-900 Dreamliner.
