If it’s not an upgrade, we won’t offically index it here on modhop.  But we think these less roomy, back-to-reality seats still deserve a breakdown and home at our YouTube Channel.  This time we’re in a better version of an economy seat aboard a Swiss Avro RJ100.

Seat: If you’re lucky enough to get an economy seat in rows 1-8 aboard this Swiss Airlines Avro RJ100, then you’ll get just average legroom.Any further back, you get less. The adjustable business class section can be configured to include anything in these rows but is frequently set up to include more economy seats depending on the greater demand.

Seat width is fair thanks to the 2-3 configuration. Other airlines have jammed 6 across on their versions of this airliner, leaving little room for hips (or comfort). So thank you Swiss Airlines.

Tech/Connectivity: There’s no tech, plug-ins or connectivity of any kind. Luckily, you’ll likely be on a short hop aboard this regional jumper, so your charged batteries and movie collection will hang in there long enough to get you there.

Food: YES! You’ll be happy to find a free bite aboard intra-Europe Swiss flights at mealtime. Our turkey sandwich came on bread freshly baked at a Swiss bakery that very day, or so says the wrapper.

Service: The smiles on this flight were much different than the forced “I’ve been doing this for 30 years and know that I have to” smile we’re all very used to. Seemingly genuine delight beaming from the flight attendants was enough to make you think an upbeat “Glee” routine was about to break out. I’m glad that one didn’t, but appreciate the service.

Rating: 3 hops (of 5)

Get em: Chose seats at Swiss.com or over the phone at or after booking. Rows 1-8 come with about 2 inches more legroom and are superior seats but one or more rows will likely be listed as Business Class and not available to economy travelers.
