If it’s not an upgrade, we won’t officially index it here on modhop so this good-sized but basic room at Westin Harbour Castle Downtown Toronto finds a home at our YouTube Channel.

The Room: It’s clear that there was a 2000’s upgrade to the rooms at the Westin Harbour Castle Toronto Downtown, but you’ll find that the rooms have likely crossed the halfway mark to the next room “freshening”. This perfectly fine, reasonably contemporary room meets minimum modern standards for business travel. How’s that for an endorsement?

As we’ve found in the past, Westin’s “Heavenly” Bed makes for a good nights sleep and on a king bed like this one even the most active sleeper has enough space to move (unless you’re next to someone that likes to sleep sideways, as in my case).

Washroom: Your washroom is a good size with plenty of counter space for spreading out your quart bag’s worth of trial sized personal care products Westin sells it as “spa like” but I’m guessing they didn’t count on us ever having been to a spa. The shower-head is rain-like but otherwise, this is a pretty basic shower/bath setup.

Amenities: “White Tea” soap and amenities are provided and have a nice scent and lather like soap but are otherwise no better than we’d expect from a mid-grade hotel.

Service: Front desk staff were on the ball as a short line moved quickly on our arrival while maintaining smiles and providing helpful tips to guests. Service staff brought everything we forgot (we always do this) within a handful of minutes. We were kept happy by everyone from our arrival to the final valet delivery of our rental car.
Wi-fi/Connectivity: The daily charge (14.95CAD on our visit) for in-room wired or wi-fi internet access seems excessive for a business-friendly hotel. Your other option is wired connection in the Fed-Ex business center for 25 cents a minute.

Overall: This traditional king room at Westin Harbor Castle Toronto Downtown is comfortable but maybe just a bit worn. Work space is good, washroom is average but has decent “get-ready” space and hotel staff seems ready to help. If you can put up with expensive wi-fi and pricey valet parking, it should be a comfortable stay.
