When it comes to travel, we all have so many things that we need to be able to organize and put in place. It can be hard to juggle everything before you travel and sometimes it can feel overwhelming. But one thing is for sure, you won’t want to leave packing to the last minute. Even if you want to physically pack right before you leave, it helps to be prepared way ahead of your trip. So let’s take a look at some of the things that you might want to focus on to get it right.
For starters, you’re absolutely going to want to make sure that you have a suitcase or luggage bag that’s big enough for what you need. Here, it’s really going to come down to the kind of trip that you’re going on. It might be the case that you just need an overnight bag or maybe you need three large suitcases if you’re going for longer. Just make sure that you’ve got all the space you need based on the kind of trip that you’re taking.
Jake says: Small rollers are great for weekend trips but be prepared to check them if you’re flying. Particularly on smaller planes, overhead space can fill up quickly. Consider a mid-sized backpack that can fit underneath the seat in front of you if you’d rather not wait for your bag after the flight.
Then, think about some of the more bulkier items that can take up space in your luggage – namely your shoes. These tend to be the largest things that take up space. The last thing you need are millions of pairs of shoes for each day. So try to pick a few pairs that you can wear with a range of outfits to begin with.
Depending on the kind of trip that you’re going on, particularly when it’s a short one, you may not have a lot of space to pack and so having a capsule wardrobe is much better for you. That way, you can mix and match your long tunics for women, tees, and vests with pants and shorts to create multiple looks for the trip. Combined with your collection of footwear, you should be good to go.
Then you’re going to want to think about the travel beauty products that you need to take with you. It could be that you just want some carry on things or you want to take the full works. Again, make sure that you’re focusing on space. Plus, having great storage bags for all of your beauty products can come in handy.
Jake says: I’m a huge fan of home-curated travel kits. I like to mix the necessities like basic toothpaste and hair gel with high-end travel sized goodies from names like L’Occitane or Molton Brown.
Finally, you’re also going to want to make sure that you have all of your essentials with you. If you’re traveling out of the country, this starts with your passport, along with other paperwork, confirmations, and insurance that you may need. But having some basic medical supplies with you is also a great idea, along with water and snacks for travel too. It’s all about making sure that you have things with you that’ll make your trip enjoyable.
