It’s always tough when we skip using our amenity kit so that we can review them here, but the temptation to examine this Birchbox goodie-filled JetBlue Mint Class amenity kit was alsmost too much to resist. We kept our cool though, thanks in part to the distraction of all the bells and whistles we found in Mint Class aboard a JetBlue transcon LAX-JFK flight. Safely home in the Modhop travel cave, our kits are ready for their official unBOXing.
The Box is truly a box. You won’t be able to use it as a clutch or toiletry bag, but you can easily drop it in with your cardboard recyclables.
I’ve got All Day: This kit has as much for looking good post-flight as it does for comfort during. Use lotions to moisturize after spending hours in a dry cabin then fix your crop with the included hair-care products. Provided you get a good nap in, you should be in good shape for meetings and nights out.
Where’s My Sleep Gear?: Birchbox is all about the lotions, creams, soaps and beauty stuff so the kit is missing some normal airline amenity kit items. Your eye-mask and earplugs come in a separate, complimentary sleep kit when flying in Mint class.
His and Hers: Mascara might be the big score inside the “hers” box (I really have no idea) but I can’t seem to find a clear winner in the “his” kit. Pomade?
But do we really need the sleep socks and a S’mint? JetBlue doesnt think so. While I like that the airline is making an effort to set themselves apart with these Birchbox goodies , the kit could use some refining. Items inside are cool and might come in handy for very specific in or post-flight circumstances, I’m not sure I’d use much of what’s inside until later when I have time to figure out what it is that I”m looking at or wrap for re-gifting. A good pair of airplane socks? I’d be all over that.
