This Air China amenity kit grabbed from an empty seat seems far more useful than the one I opened on-board our recent flight. Maybe all the flying we had done to that point hurt our appreciation for anything but sleep, but I’m pretty sure I used the toothbrush and tossed the rest to the side. But after closer review, is it full of goodies for someone who forgot their own eyemask or earplugs?
Earplug fortress: Your earplugs come in a hard plastic casing and that’s likely my favorite thing about this kit. That’s not to say I don’t anything else, but it’s the only re-useable thing here other than the case itself.
Scrunchie Eyemask: The silky outer of the supplied eyemask is no good at disguising the cool stiffness of the mask itself. Light easily peeks through parts of the mask when the cabin lights are on or when you’re cursed by this guy.
Goodies worth keeping: The L’Occitane lotion and lip balm are the most useful items in the kit once you’re off the plane. Sure you can re-use the toothbrush, the case and even the Ponyboy-style flip comb but these 2 high-end goodies are the fanciest of them all.
The rest and the wrapup: Outside a moist towelette, you’re not going to find much else in this case. My use of the word “impressive” in the video might have been more than what the kit deserves but it certainly isn’t a bad one. We’d like to see a little more from L’Occitane inside (like their own moist towlette!) and maybe a mint. Otherwise it’s a minimally complete case from Air China.
