Singapore Airlines First Class suites on the A380 are still amazing.

Jake Redman September 12, 2016

Airline: Singapore Airlines Aircraft: A380 Seat maps:  SeatGuru Our Seat(s): 3F Class: First I Don’t Deserve You. This a pretty magnificent throne. At 35″ seats inside Singapore Airlines First Class Suites are some of the wider we’ve seen (not including my on-ground tour of the Etihad Residence). There’s enough floor space to give you plenty of stretch too. Wrapped in it’s own individual cabin you’ve got room to relax in luxurious privacy. Put your seat into relax mode and shut the doors if you want, but total privacy is best served for nap time. We get Lunch?! First Class Surprise on a United E-175.

Jake Redman August 29, 2016

[cardboard id=11908] Hi from 1D aboard a United E175 in First Class. Use your mouse or finger to navigate. Sorry, full screen isn’t functional yet. Airline: United Airlines Aircraft: Embraer 175 Seat maps: United | SeatGuru Our Seat(s): 1D Class: First It’s not the Seat. There’s nothing exciting about my seat aboard this United Embraer 175. It’s typical everything from average width to a reasonably large center console. Legroom here in row 1 isn’t as restricted as some we’ve seen in the bulkhead row but keeps you from fully extending your legs. It’s hard to find much wrong with the seat, it’s just not extraordinary on […]

Airport Lounges

This Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Frankfurt is good, not amazing.

Jake Redman August 22, 2016

Big Rooms Full of Chairs. Unlike it’s cross-Atlantic cousin at JFK, this Lufthansa Senator Lounge near gate B43 at Frankfurt’s terminal isn’t short on space. The good amount of extra square footage allows for big open rooms of seating. The large window-side hall is full of generic loungers and a few outside facing daybeds in case you need a sunny nap. Take a 360 degree spin around this Lufthansa Senator Lounge at FRA:(Sorry, full screen option is temporarily inoperable).[cardboard id=11873] There are areas sectioned off for workbar and cafe seating but it’s tough to find anything secluded. Finding a spot in […]

Autumn Menus on JAL are Full of Great new Upgrades.

Jake Redman August 19, 2016

Menu upgrades between LHR and HND. I haven’t been shy about my love for Japan Airlines food in first class. The multi-course Japanese menu is full of fantastic and flavorful bites that we’ve given our highest rating to. Since our last JAL trek there have been menu tweaks in first class and other premium cabins on select routes. Here we focus on new Japanese options from London Heathrow to Tokyo Narita and new kid menus in first from Japan. First, first… Looks like JAL has a new celebrity cook in the kitchen. Daisuke Hayashi, Executive Chef at London’s “Tokimeite” has been working with Japan Airlines food […]

Will new Delta One Suites be the Best in the sky?

Jake Redman August 16, 2016

A big Addition In recent months we’ve seen little improvements in ultra long-haul Delta Business Class international service. Amenities like pajamas and improved amenity kits are perks that build more comfort into the “Delta One” brand. Now, a much larger  improvement coming to select flights could finally bring a US legacy carrier to one of the finer standards in global travel. They’re adding doors. Yes, doors. A few specs are being kept under wraps for “competitive reasons” according to the New York Times article that broke the story. But Delta released some info about what you’ll get with these seats in their press release: […]

This TAP Airlines Review Will Make you Super Sleepy.

Jake Redman August 15, 2016

Airline: TAP Airlines (Portugal) Aircraft: A330-200 Seat maps: SeatGuru (Azul Airlines*) Our Seat(s): 4K Class: Executive Business *Plane reviewed was configured for Azul Airlines. Our Seat was the Best. Our TAP Airlines Review is in Executive Business Class aboard one of two A330-200s leased by TAP after being configured for Azul Airlines. It’s also a peek at how TAP Airlines could reconfigure it’s up-front cabins aboard other long-haul planes. Here, window seats in rows 2 and 4 are our favorites with a large console on the aisle side. In alternate rows, it’s on the other side. I like to smack my head right up against the window when I stare outside […]

Why I hate choosing my American Airlines Seating

Jake Redman July 27, 2016

Hate is a strong word, but I seem to spend more time than I’d like choosing an economy seat on American Airlines. While I respect that some seats should be held for the best customers, American Airlines seating choices seem to be tilted disproportionately in favor of elites. Tomorrow, I fly from New York (LGA) to Chicago (ORD) via Washington DC (DCA) to help cover Lollapallooza for SiriusXM and currently have no status with American. My DCA-ORD seat picker at AA.com gives me ONLY middle seats in premium sections to choose from. Admittedly, I flinched and bought the bulkhead “main cabin extra” middle seat figuring that a bulkhead middle would be the best of […]

Is the Airspace Lounge JFK really for VIP?

Jake Redman July 25, 2016

Take a 360 degree spin around Airspace Lounge JFK at T5:[cardboard id=11723] Seat Surprise Despite it’s small size, there are a few different ways to lounge here at Airspace Lounge JFK. Seating comes in many forms from bar to workbar to lounger, it’s all here. The space keeps each area of seats to a minimum though. At crowded times, I can see this getting on a nerve or two. If you’ve spent money to get in, buyers remorse might set in if you see any zen-like empty gates on exiting. Spending Your Allowance in one Place Whether you pay a […]

Is TAP Airlines Business Class Worth the Worry?

Jake Redman July 19, 2016

I’m in!!! On my quick hop to Frankfurt this week, I’ll be in TAP Airlines Business Class aboard one of their newer A330-300 aircraft (unless there’s a last-minute equipment change). To get there, we used the TAP airlines “Plusgrade” system that allows you to bid for a one-cabin upgrade. If accepted, you’ll be moved up anytime after the cutoff (in our case 96 hours for the JFK-LIS portion) up to check-in. *Photos and video contained in this post are of AZUL’s Business Class. TAP Airlines has yet to produce images of these cabins modified for their use.   Is it Worth It? Maybe. […]
