Jake Redman March 4, 2016

Even if you’re not an extreme foodie, you may know the name Daniel Boulud. The accomplished Michelin-starred chef is the owner of renowned restaurants around the world and is recognized as one of the best chefs in the US. Just last year (2015) Boulud was presented the Diners Club Lifetime Achievement award by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants to add to his ever-expanding trophy case. Accolades are typically attached to airline press releases when partnering with celebrity chefs, but Air France Business Class and La Première flyers departing the US get a chef with real name recognition and a lifetime of accomplishment. 5 Reasons You’re in Line at the Plaza Premium Lounge at HKG | Video

Jake Redman February 29, 2016

Lounge: Plaza Premium Lounge Where: Hong Kong (HKG) East Wing Cafe to Cozy. Plaza Network Lounges wow us again with a decent variety of seating inside this Hong Kong Plaza Premium Lounge. Get past the bar and immediate cafe seating to get to some deeper lounge chairs in a larger, dark room. We did’t quite make it that far. Ours were cushioned chairs around a small table in the bar suitable for snacking comfortably. Get noodled or just snack. Early day food options had dry cereal out alongside snacks and fruit. There’s a hot food bar that may or may not have the noodle-y […]

Of 3 Big Changes to American Airlines Lounges, 1 may Annoy you.

Jake Redman February 24, 2016

Last week, we learned that some changes are coming to American Airlines Lounges in the coming months and year. The first is the reiteration of coming updates to all their clubs including the new A-Terminal American Airlines Sky Harbor Admirals Club that’s now officially open. (You can see the transformation in this video from American Airlines Lounges update page.)  We’re happy to see they started at PHX after our disappointing visits to the former US Airways Clubs.  Brand new American Airlines Admirals clubs will also soon make debuts at both Houston (IAH) and Orlando (MCO) airports. The actual news is the […]

Jake Redman February 22, 2016

At the time of this review the airline is still known as Dragonair but is transitioning to it’s new name “Cathay Dragon”. For more information about the changes at Cathay’s website. Video Evidence That Delta is Trying to Feed you Well | Food on Planes

Jake Redman February 18, 2016

*Video: Delta Airlines The trend of building teams of well-known chefs to curuate your airline’s premium menus isn’t lost on Delta. The airline has been working on it for awhile, utilizing their partnership with Union Square Hospitality and it’s founder Danny Meyer (aka “The Shake Shack guy”). Beginning March 1, menus in Delta One (International Business Class) on select routes will feature items developed by Chef Carmen Quagliata of the group’s Union Square Cafe in New York City. New Delta One menus will feature “Italian inspired” dishes developed by Chef Qagliata. Union Square Cafe worked with the airline to get meats and […]

We Have More Business in the Cathay Pacific “The Wing” Lounge at HKG | Watch:

Jake Redman February 15, 2016

We’ve paid two visits to the Cathay Pacific Business Class “The Wing” lounge but it took both to cover the entire thing. Watch both videos here. Lounge: Cathay Pacific Business Class “The Wing” Where: Hong Kong (HKG) Terminal 1 Seating: Over two floors you’ll find a decent variety of seating from typical deep loungers to communal tables inside the noodle bar and the cafe chairs of the coffee bar. Seats seem to go fast though with lots of traffic coming into this lounge from the nearby security checkpoint. On both visits, it was difficult to find preferrable seating for parties of […]

We Shouldn’t Plan our own Trips. Here’s why. | #Mileburn2016 Pregame

Jake Redman January 31, 2016

The challenge was clear. Construct an anniversary trip with saved miles across several airline mileage and hotel point programs that resembles something close to free. Having miles to burn in our American Airlines, Starwood (SPG) accounts and several smaller chunks in partner-transferrable credit card programs, I was determined to find something amazing. How’d I do? Not bad. The trip I was able to piece together looks awesome although it takes us through fewer airports than our past long-haul hops. The BIG difference this time is that this is an actual vacation instead of just hopping through airports. Another big difference? We’re spending a […]
