A Better Look Inside the new Hawaiian Airlines Premium Cabins.

Jake Redman May 27, 2016

Now the Rest of the Story We got an early look at Hawaiian Airlines new lie-flat seats a few days ago but now the airline has the rest of the details. New configurations will add the new front cabin experience and expand “Extra Comfort” economy seating. Here’s a more complete roundup of what you’ll get inside the newly configured A330 in both classes. First, a video from Hawaiian Airlines put out when the new Premium Cabin was announced that gives a perhaps TOO in-depth look into the inspiration for the seats but in a few places, we get a good look […]

Airport Lounges

Visiting the Delta Sky Club at LAX Will Make you Hungry.

Jake Redman May 23, 2016

Lounge: Delta Sky Club Location: LAX (Los Angeles, CA) Terminal/Concourse: Terminal 5 The Space Between. When I resort to Dave Matthews music as a headline it’s because the title really applies to the situation or I’m creatively starved for ideas. In this case it’s the former as there’s a really good amount of space between many of the lounge chairs at the Delta Sky Club LAX location, airside within terminal 5.This Delta Sky Club was remodeled in 2010 and was a remarkable improvement over it’s predecessor. Since then, there have been cosmetic improvements to keep the lounge fresh but much is […]

Jake Redman May 21, 2016

Starting next month Hawaiian Airlines will finally offer a lie-flat business class offering aboard their new A330 aircraft. We’ve been itching to get a look and are finally getting pictures from Hawaiian. Local Hawaii TV news outlet KHON got our best look yet at the new seats. Video: KHON-TV We’ll save judgement until we can get an even better specs and a more thorough peek inside the new cabins but are excited that Hawaiian Airlines Lie flat seating is finally a real thing. Check out the pics from Hawaiian and let us know what you think in the comments:

Amenity Kits

Is this JAL First Class Amenity Kit as Awesome as the Seat?

Jake Redman May 16, 2016

The JAL First Class amenity kit comes in 2 versions depending on whether you’re on a long-haul flight to or from Japan. Today Jake unBOXes the inbound version. (*Ignore the graphic that says “Courtesy KLM” at 2:48.) Whaaat?! 4 layers deep (inside plastic wrapping, inside a plastic container, inside a bag within a bag) are a pair of 3M earplugs. These are as good as we’ve used from a kit on a plane but you might do better with a higher decibel-rated earplug from the likes of Macks, Heros, Moldex and others typically available at your local drug store.   Hello […]

What Makes Delta A321 Seating in First Class Special? | Video

Jake Redman May 9, 2016

Airline: Delta Airlines Aircraft: A321 Seat maps:   Delta | SeatGuru Our Seat(s): 3A-B Class: First It’s Not so Much the Seat. There’s no fanfare necessary for the actual seats themselves. In most rows you’ll get a fair amount of legroom and width that matches what you’ll get on most domestic flights. The center console is on the smaller side of generous but still allows for good elbow movement and a drink for each seat. These are newer lightweight seats so some might feel a difference in the amount of cushioning but were perfectly comfortable for us. Recline seems generous but maybe a little bothersome if you don’t like […]

Amenity Kits

The British Airways First Class Amenity Kit is Soooo Basic.

Jake Redman May 2, 2016

We’re told that the British Airways First Class Amenity kit of old was stuffed with higer-end goodies than what’s in this one. Still, we were able to find everything we needed from toothbrush to Refinery brand deodorant. Kits come specific to gender so it’s the men’s kit we examine in this video unBOX… I SO Hear You  We can only assume that our kit was defective or that someone had gone digging through it. Earplugs seem to be missing from this men’s British Airways First Class amenity kit but not to worry, we see in other’s reviews that there SHOULD be […]

Airline Seats

Delta 757 Seating That has us Looking for Comfort…and Plus.

Jake Redman April 25, 2016

Airline: Delta Airlines Aircraft: 757-200 (757/75U) Seat maps:   Delta | SeatGuru Our Seat(s): 21 D,E,F Class: (Economy) Comfort+ Knees Win There’s no denying that knees get some extra room to roam in Comfort+ Delta 757 seating, but is that it? On this specific Delta 757-200 setup the answer is “Pretty much”. The remaining benefit to Comfort+ is snack and booze based so this (as we continue to point out) is otherwise just an economy seat. Same width, same filled middle seat, same lack of headrest…just same. Bulkhead seats appear to be winners placed well away from the wall giving you a good amount of stretch. Here and […]

Centurion Lounge LGA Style – A Gallery.

Jake Redman April 20, 2016

We’ve got pics too! We reviewed the Amex Centurion Lounge LGA (New York, LaGuardia) not long ago and found that it’s our current favorite there. Good options for food, comfortable seating and friendly staff combine for an elevated lounge experience…at least for LGA. It’s a little small so it’s frequently crowded but as long as there’s a place to sit, it’s a great spot to escape the terminal. {{orbitz2}} The Gallery: Amex Centurion Lounge LGA [foogallery id=”11181″] {{orbitz3}} Thanks for checking out our American Express Centurion Lounge LGA Gallery. Cathay's "The Bridge" Hong Kong Lounge

Airport Lounges

“The Bridge” Might be our Favorite Hong Kong Lounge. Here’s why.

Jake Redman April 11, 2016

Lounge: Cathay Pacific Business Class “The Bridge” Where: Hong Kong (HKG) Terminal 1 We Love Nice Chairs. Cathay Pacific has a way of winning us over with a variety of seating and it’s no different at “The Bridge”. Deep loungers and some oddly-shaped but cozy chairs arranged inside nicely separated living areas make for a relaxing Hong Kong Lounge experience. Seating in “The Bakery”, (Cathay’s food offering inside the lounge) is less than luxurious. Small stools meet communal tables, great for meeting new people and being close to seconds but not great for the anti-social or claustrophobic. Luckily for those […]

How Badly Would Alaska Airlines Devirginize Virgin America?

Jake Redman April 5, 2016

Right now there’s no perfect answer to what the purchase of Virgin America by Alaska Airlines means for the passenger experience Virgin customers are used to. In fact, Alaska doesn’t seem to want to commit to saying the Virgin brand would even disappear…at least not quickly. Having watched so many of these types of mergers in recent years we’ve witnessed the on-board experience get washed out by some airlines and enhanced by others. This one should be particularly interesting to watch if and when regulatory hurdles are conquered simply because the airlines are just so different. Alaska Airlines is a granddad of […]
