If you’ve already seen our video review of this Grand Club level room at Grand Hyatt Istanbul, you can skip straight to the lounge pics about halfway down the page. I had actually forgotten that we had taken the lounge pics until my wife asked if she could erase them from her iPhone. Of course I said “NO! That’s modhop gold!”, and now here they are.
It’s not the airline we fly the most, but we’re always happy to jump aboard a JetBlue A320. Watch and read as we dig into an “Even More Space” exit row aboard this trusty workhorse.

We took a quick trip to Seoul to sample a bunch of airlines and ended up discovering the newly remodeled (as of late 2013) Hotel Shin Shin. Take a look as we stroll into the attached restaurant “Dine Hall” and into our room upgrade, a “Superior Room” with double bed and a fantastic view of what will one day be “Hotel M”, but for now is noisy construction. Take a look!
Seat(s): I had no experience flying in the previous generation of Lufthansa Business Class seats, but from what I’m told these are a huge improvement. In 14D that’s harder to believe after having flown in the much better bulkhead seats in row 3 on our outbound trip, but those old seats were just space-age barcalounger style loafs that don’t turn into beds. While they do appear to be better, they’re certainly not perfect… {{orbitz2}}
It’s arguable that vacation rentals are an upgrade from hotel living, but if you find the right one there’s not much that will get you closer to feeling like a local. That was our goal when booking a long weekend home in Venice Italy. A bit of research told us that this part of the Dorsoduro neighborhood near Ca’ Foscari University was less overrun by (but not without) tourism so this Homeaway rental listed as “Cozy San Basilio” seemed like the perfect spot.
We’d been spoiled by our recent club level stay at Grand Hyatt Istanbul so the Hilton Orlando Club Lounge didn’t really stand a chance. Our palates were finely tuned to a delectable array of meats, cheeses, prepared hors d’oeuvres and hot meal options. Not here. A very basic continental breakfast and limited hot snacks alongside a self-serve cash bar made us wonder why we bothered. We got snaps of the good, the bad and the bland…
Seating: There’s a decent variety of seating inside the Servisair Lounge at LHR, but when it’s crowded you’ll be uncomfortably close to someone you don’t know, not unlike the crowded terminal you just left. Whether you’ve settled into cafe seating or one of the small leather loungers, you’ll notice the size of the lounge doesn’t allow for good spacing. If you can manage to find a time of day when fewer folks are around, you should be able to section yourself off in the otherwise nicely arranged lounge.
The video unBOX of this Austrian Airlines Business Class Amenity Kit isn’t a highlight reel by any stretch. But is my lack of enthusiasm is really just a reflection of how unexciting the kit is? Sure, it’s not the best collection of mile high goodies we’ve been offered in long-haul business class but some days it’s just hard to find the energy to make a cheap toothbrush and a packet of tiny mints sound exciting.
