I try to be a decent guy but admit that I can be a little selfish…at least when it comes to air travel. For example, just a few years ago I was in a situation where it was in my best interest to put off flying Singapore Suites even though I had the points to do it. Instead of transferring Chase Ultimate reward points to my Singapore Airlines Krisflyer account, I used them to put up a visiting relative in-law at a nearby hotel. I did it because it was a nice thing to do, but was secretly bummed that I’d have to wait on my suite.
Now, I have another shot at a saver award in Singapore Airlines most coveted air-prize, but points aren’t all it takes. At the saver level I’m not ponying up a lot of miles for such a robust first class product (just 57,375 Krisflyer miles). It’s the fuel and local surcharges are kind of a drag. For this one-way from Frankfurt to New York JFK, we ponied up 165-ish EUR for the fuel surcharge and another 115 EUR because Germany.
But then, it’s for this:
I’m SO Late to the Game
First of all, the promotional video is in standard definition…that’s how long these have been around now. Also, YouTube has been long littered with videos reviews of the Singapore Suites experience. It’s even the blogger favorite anymore. Accolades like that belong to the newer Etihad Apartments or Residence. But on the occasion of Travel + Leisure rating Singapore Airlines the “Worlds Best Airline” again (21st time…in a row), I’m still very excited to experience Singapore Suites.
